This kit is designed to make LEDs blinking. The LEDs are blinking one by one from one side to the other side, which makes the LEDs are seemed like running. Operation of the circuit is divided into two parts: frequency generator and the LEDs. The frequency generator is created from the 555 timer IC. The frequency generated is connected to pin 14 of the CD4017BE IC where the output will be generated at pin 3, 2, 4, 7, 10, 1, 5 and 6 respectively which is the output of the LEDs. The speed depends on the frequency count obtained from pin 14 of the 555 timer, which is using the potentiometer VR1 to adjust the frequency count generated. The LED is turned on when the power supply is connected. It uses 9V as the power supply. For the potentiometer, the voltage of potentiometer is changed by tuning it. It is used to adjust the blinking speed of the running LEDs. The changing voltage of the potentiometer will subsequently changing the frequency, which will then change the blinking speed of LEDs.
